About Our School

Nurturing Every Child's Potential

The Special School for Deaf & Mentally Retarded, located at Brundamal, Jharsuguda, Odisha, is a dedicated institution committed to providing quality education and rehabilitation to children with hearing impairments and cognitive challenges.

Managed by Umak Kalyan Sewa Sangha and generously supported by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), we offer a safe, nurturing environment where every child is empowered to learn, grow, and achieve their fullest potential.

Classes We Offer

Our structured curriculum spans from Preparatory Level to Class VIII, designed specifically for children with hearing and cognitive special needs.

Preparatory Class I

Foundation learning through play, sensory activities and sign language introduction.

Pre I

Preparatory Class II

Building communication skills, basic numeracy and literacy through visual methods.

Pre II

Primary Classes

Classes I–IV covering language, mathematics and life skills adapted for special needs.

Class I – IV

Upper Primary

Classes V–VIII with vocational skills, computer education and advanced academics.

Audiometry Lab

Specialized speech and language therapy sessions conducted by trained therapists to improve verbal communication skills.

Computer Education

Fully equipped computer lab providing digital literacy training to prepare students for the modern technology-driven world.

Kitchen & Dining Hall

Modern kitchen and spacious dining hall providing nutritious, free meals daily to all enrolled students.
